Resiterns: "Surviving September"!

Whew! What a week!!!! This was a busy one! John Mark- a friend from Ken's Dental School visited with us and externed at UTMB in hope of being next year's 1st year. We love recrutiting people to the island! :) We had a great time catching up with him. John Mark is a known cook- and this week he treated us to some banana's foster- YUM!!! What a treat! Here he is with the "itty bitty's"! I think he was very entertained by them. I also started my Junior League Provisional year this week. This seemed like a great way to be active in our community, meet new friends, all while sharing God's love! I am really excited about several upcoming events with this great women's organization!and this weekend...
RESITERNS! I was in charge of the resitern get together for September. I went with the theme "Surviving September" since most of us were here for "IKE" and we also made it through this year WITHOUT a single scare!!! Whoop whoop! It was a great time to see familiar faces and hang out with some new ones! Here are a few pictures of our beach party Galveston Style!!

Yes- you can drive on the beach here! Love having an SUV for this kind of stuff! We picked up Chili's for everyone and just had a great night at the beach we all love!

Mattie and I- I'm thinking she loves having her toes in the sand! Who can blame her- that is one of life's simple pleasures!

Daddy with Hailey- showing off her walking skills!

Our sweet family- Galveston Island, September 2009! My babies are 7 months old.
Hopefully, Sunday we will rest!
Enjoy your Sunday!

Count your Blessings!!!

This morning this scripture just spoke to me:
"Come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28

No- I am not burdened or overwhelmed, just empathetic. This week I know of a few people that are facing some real trials in their life and I would imagine in their walk in faith. I have never experienced the loss of a child and can't begin to understand the grief that brings, but as a new mom- I can understand the love you have for your children. This got me thinking about how TRULY blessed I am THIS day!

I am blessed to:
breathe in the morning air, kiss my husband good-bye, see my beautiful girls sleeping, walk outside, feel at peace, pray, love and be loved, have an amazing family, be busy and useful in the world around me, have friends (near and far), a healthy happy family, the list goes on and on but, most importantly to have my faith!

Today, if you get a second just think about the things that you are blessed with- I think you will find "your cup runneth over"!

My prayers are with all families that are struggling with trials that I can't even imagine facing. God is sovereign- ALL THE TIME.

I heart lunch dates!!!

One of my favorite Galveston friends finally caught up with me and turned "28", so we had to celebrate! Happy Birthday Christen!! :) We got 7 girls together and 1 "on the way" boy and celebrated at Mosquito Cafe! They have the BEST Lemonade cake- EVER!!! I think I am going to buy one for Mattie and Hailey's BabyDedication Celebration! Here we are- Hailey, me, Cora, and "The Birthday Girl" Christen! Do you see the Yummy cake- we haven't devoured it yet!

Our month at school!

Well as some of you may have heard- I decided to try and go back to work part time... I have waited to blog about this because I was a little apprehensive from the get go- I was hired at East End Preschool, a mother's day out from 8:30-11:45am in the 2 year old classroom. The girls were able to go with me, but were in a different room. Unfortunately, after a couple of weeks I am feeling extremely overwhelmed by all that comes with working with 2 year olds, being a nursing mommy (my milk has quadrupled from all the tears), and keeping house. I just felt like I am not giving 100% to anything- this broke my heart since I want to be the BEST mommy I can be to my monkeys!!! EEP- they have an amazing facility and I have really enjoyed getting to know so many Galveston friends! Here are a few pictures of the girls first day of school! *The girls have lost all the "strawberry" in their hair- they are "REAL" blondes now!!! I am sure that they will agree- Blondes do have more FUN!!!
Here my girls are with their teacher Mrs. Laura. She has been amazing with them! They love her- Laura and her hubs go to our new church so I am sure we will get to know them better. I am sure that the girls will request her to babysit for them sometime too!

Here the girls are in their "Tiny Tot" room.

I love that MDO is available- sometimes Mommy's really do need a little "Mommy Time"! I am so glad that God used this to show me not to take a minute with my sweet girls for granted!

Aunt Rachel visits TEXAS!!!

Good morning (last Thursday)- the girls are super excited about Aunt Rachel coming to visit! As you can see they are sitting up with a little help! We are almost there... Although it rained ALOT while Aunt Rachel was here- we were able to do quite a bit. Friday wasn't much fun for her (sorry Rachel)- I had to work that morning (more about that soon...) so we were pretty lazy that afternoon. Saturday we did a bit more- ate at Saltgrass then dropped the itty bitty's off and Rachel and I headed to THE GALLERIA- Houston's BEST mall! We had a great time shopping! We literally shopped until we DROPPED! Ken and the girls were glad they didn't have to go! That night we watched the move Obsessed- with Beyonce'. It really fired me up. Sunday, the whole crew went to church and the to lunch at Star Drugstore- they have a great turkey, bacon, avocado sandwich! Here are a few pictures of us all here:
Hailey always so happy!

Mattie- was cracking us up holing her feet up! I mean she literally sat there with them in the air the whole time!

Aunt Rachel with the girls- notice Mattie's foot in the air!

The whole gang! What a fun weekend! Thanks for visiting- we all hope you come back real soon! Next time, bring the hubs! :)

3 of a kind!

Last weekend, we had our sweet friends The Brokaws over for dinner! It was such a fun time for the girls to hang out and the boys to grill! The numbers were 6 girls (including our dog) to 2 boys- there was definitely alot of talking, giggling and squealing! Christen and I took this opportunity to try and catch the girls striking a pose. I really want to have plenty of pictures of these girls as they will be growing up together in here- at least for the next 3 years! Aren't they all adorable!
I couldn't decide which picture I liked best- so you get both! :)
I just know they are all going to be the best of friends!

While the Mommy is away...

Mattie will play! The story is- I left half a container of carrots on the floor "out of Mattie's reach" while I took Hailey into the other room. When I returned I saw this! Mattie sure showed me "out of my reach- ha!" It was too cute, she was actually licking the tub of carrots. I guess she wanted more! I love these babies!

B is for BATH TIME!

M is for MATTIE! (Notice the hair sprouting!!! I am so proud!)
H is for Hailey! Both girls LOVE bath time! We have learned that kicking in the water makes splashes, so Mommy and babies end up wet! It is fun for all. :) We are still in our little pink tub, but once we are sitting on our own- we are both hopping in our "bath seats" at the same time! More pictures of this fun soon!
HUGS from the Haynes'!

"Silly Mommy- Carrots are for Babies!"

Oh- how funny new food is! We are starting slow (because this is a big transition for Mommy- HA!). We ate squash first- Mattie likes it ok, but Hailey won't even open her mouth for it now. I don't blame her! If she does open it- she actually gags on squash now. It is really cute- but I think I am cutting it from our diet! On to CARROTS! Hailey is looking a little unsure about this new veggie... and the verdict is......
She LOVES CARROTS!
Here is Mattie's before picture...

Mattie LOVES carrots too! :) :) :)

I am so glad- I was scared we weren't going to eat any veggie! We have had several days of carrots before I could post these pictures, so I am sure I will have green beans up soon! We are moving on to the greens next! Bon Apetit!

"TWO" years down!

What a day, what a day! Yesterday was Ken and I's 2nd anniversary. I got the idea from a friend to take a "yearly" picture to remember the day- I love pictures, so it is perfect! To celebrate "our day", we put the girls to bed and Ken's friend David Baker came over to keep them (watch them sleep). We then went to dinner at "Rudy and Paco's"- SO SO SO Yummy! After that we exchanged gifts- which we both looked to The Brokaws for help with ideas. Cracks me up! Ken (with a little help from Christen) got me a pair of 7 jeans!!!!!!!!!! Can you hear the excitement! They are great- the best present! What a surprise! I got Ken a 12 hour fishing trip in October. Jonathan, Christen's hubby is going to go with him. I also gave Ken "Marley & Me". Although I feel that movie is RIDICULOUSLY sad- it touched both of us how much changes in our lives so quickly (minus the whole fighting parts- we really don't do that). Overall the day was GREAT! I am so blessed to have such an amazing husband! I love you with all of my heart! Happy Anniversary!
