Let BIRTHDAY WEEK BEGIN!!!! It started with a BANG! Mattie and Hailey woke up this morning to the smell of "pink" pancakes on the griddle! Made with lots of LOVE by our very special "Chef" Daddy! Since the party was at 10am our menu was:
Pink Pancakes with lots of toppings (Sprinkles, whip cream, choclate chips, etc)
Fruit Salad
and
CUPCAKES!!!!

Special People's Ball 2010

As the festivities continue through this Mardi Gras time of year- I had the opportunity to volunteer at the Special People's Ball with Junior League. The first time I heard about this big party- I knew it was right up my alley! :)

The ball started at 12pm and lasted until 4. People of all ages and their families are invited to attend the ball. There was face painting, bead gather, food, and DANCING! I started out as a greeter, but quickly found my way to the dance floor.
Here Lindsey and I shakin' our tail feathers with many of our new friends!

Words cannot express the JOY that I saw and had when I was at the this party! My heart was touched and reminded of what is truly important in life! Loving one another- no matter what our differences may be. This was a great way to step out of your comfort zone and have a BALL!

THe band played GREAT music! The man on the keyboard- David Salyer, has a daughter in my class and the man playing the guitar really was playing it behind his back- CRAZY skills!

Lindsey, Merideth and I- tired from our hours of dancing! It truly was one of the BEST days!
I even made the Galveston paper- dancing with Preston! He had a great energy and sweet disposition! Thanks for such a SWEET time! Can't wait until next year!!

Mardi Gras FEVER!

After a little doll making, my little dolls and I headed home to pick up Daddy and headed out to the first of MANY Mardi Gras festivities- The Krewe of Aquarius Parade! We met up with Laura and Nic (which I just realized I didn't get a picture of Nic- Sorry!) It was so much fun hanging out with them while we waited... waiteD.... waitED... waiTED... waITED.... wAITED.... and WAITED! We love Laura! She is ALWAYS willing to love on, help out, and watch my girls and I love that I know they are in such good care when she is around! Never hurts having another set of hands! Not to mention that I have found a great friend too!
Mattie waiting (thumb secure) for the floats we have been talking about. In the mean time, we convinced the guys to walk a little ways and buy a pizza. Still waiting...

The HAPPY couples ( I didn't realize I had a baby kiss on my shoulder).

It starts in true Galveston fashion!!! :)

Here are some friends of ours that go to church with us on their bus "Dancing Queen" throwing beads. I wonder how I can get on their next year....
Bucket list addition:
Ride on Mardi Gras float: CHUNK some beads

My little King Cakes all decked out in appropriate attire caught some beads! :) Great day even though we only saw about 3 floats and had to head in for naptime. Next year we will know- if it starts at 12, get their about 1pm.
Happy Mardi Gras!

Brusha, Brusha, Bruasha!

We have definitely had a BIG weekend once again! :) But... ENJOYED every minute of it!
I already posted about Saturday morning- doll making, but I forgot that I had taken some "Dental Care" pictures. Ken is being a true dentist Dad making sure that everyone has clean teeth and fresh breath. The girls LOVE having their teeth cleaned- may it always be that way! Hailey having her 5 teeth brushed! She finally has has 2 more break through. Still missing a top front tooth- too cute!
Mattie took the more laid back approach- but enjoys it just the same. I think I might need to try their toothpaste!

Off and running- these are the pictures that I am getting these days- "action shots" (ha)!
The girls are constantly on the GO! We aren't walking on our own, but we are crusining like it could be anyday now. Mattie really gets a kick of standing for a few seconds by herself! THe girls are getting SO SO SO big!

I caught Mattie sitting! :) :) :) Now Mommy needs a nap. Thanks Grammy for these cute dress when we were little and cute tops now that we are bigger!

I can however get quite alot of "behind" shots! Happy MONDAY!

Dolls for Haiti!

Yesterday morning, I had the opportunity to join some of the ladies of First Baptist Galveston and make dolls for the children of Haiti. As a church, it was neat to see so many talented and (the un-sewing) skilled come together for this project. The dolls are very special because one side the eyes are closed- symbolizing those who don't know the Lord on the other side the dolls eyes are open and she has a heart for the Lord. :) Isn't that a great witness to eve the youngest of Haitian's? I was so encouraged just sitting with these ladies- learning and working to share God's LOVE. :) THe 1st finished product- eyes open and a heart for the Lord!!!
Busy cutting out the bodies- or course I had to make a few animal print doll outfits!
Working hard!
The first 2 I did :)
The "Sewing Queens"- Thanks Mrs. Meador for putting this together!
